Oh No – Shiny Objects are Attacking!

I admit it – I have a BAD case of Shiny Object Syndrome.

What is Shiny Object Syndrome?

The symptoms of this syndrome are lack of focus, inability to ignore offers for the “New Greatest Product Ever”, and general fear of missing out.

I have a hard drive full of the latest and greatest software, plugins and memberships to things I have NO idea of what they do.  They sounded great and as I was not getting the results I wanted, I bought.  And bought.  And bought.  I have used very, very few.  So much money gone up in smoke!

When I started this challenge, I had resolved to NOT BUY ANYTHING else as Dean said we did not need anything other than what they specify, such as hosting.

Since the challenge started, I have ignored the offers quite easily….. until today.   I did NOT succumb but it was a very close call.  Luckily, as I read the sales page, I kept hearing Dean’s voice in my head – “You don’t need to buy anything else” – and I resisted.

I am now in the midst of unsubscribing from lists where all I get are sales pitches.  I am kicking them out and holding on to my money. It is safer for me and my pocketbook  that way.  Mindset, mindset, mindset.  I do not need anything else.

So, I ask you …  Do you leap from one thing to the next, hoping that “this new thing” will do it for you? Are you going broke buying the latest thing and seeing nothing for your money?

If so, I can tell you from sad personal experience that you are doomed to failure if you do not STOP.  Just STOP NOW.  Do your research.  Don’t allow scarcity or time limits to rush your choice.  Find people who have been successful doing what you want to do.

Choose one path and do everything you need to succeed.  THEN and ONLY THEN, you can look at ONE other potential path and follow that in the same focused way.

When you find a method that works for you, rinse and repeat if you want to.

This challenge is one way to do it.  30 days is a great length for me.  I can do 30 days.  60 or 90 and I fall off the wagon, as it were, fairly quickly.

So… I RESOLVE TO BUY NOTHING UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY TO SUCCEED IN THIS COURSE AND DEAN SAYS I NEED IT.

Now, I’m going to finish unsubscribing.
