Is Ageism Affecting You?

Do you find that your age makes a difference to how you are treated?

Do you feel like you are overlooked due to your age?

Or my all time favourite – being called “Dear” in a condescending way?

I have and it is frustrating to say the least.

Luckily for us seniors, the internet levels the playing field. Unless you want them to, no one needs to know or care how old you are. If you have a good product or a good method of making money on the internet, you can succeed no matter what your age.

As an senior online marketer, you can be your own boss and let go of any idea that your age – or any other method of discrimination – can play a part in your success. This is important especially for seniors who are on a fixed income.

Online marketing gives you the chance to add a little or a lot to your monthly income, depending on how much effort you put into it. It gives you an opportunity you might not have in a normal workplace environment where ageism runs rampant.

Employers are fast to have negative opinions about older workers. They sometimes perceive them as less educated, less skilled, less healthy and less productive. It’s a falsehood that continues even though they’re usually more productive than their younger counterparts.

Those mature workers today are usually healthier and more active and can offer a treasure trove of knowledge and experience. But, the stereotype of older workers is that they cost a lot to insure and don’t have the technological experience needed.

Rather than deal with workplace ageism, we seniors can now focus their times and efforts on building their own businesses online and becoming their own bosses. The internet offers the anonymity that cuts the age factor and can help supplement a fixed income.

There are dozens of ways you can make money online without having huge startup costs. One way is to become a blogger. Setting up a blog takes a little bit of time and effort, but once it’s yours, you can begin to create a following and monetize the site.

After your blog is up and running, you can become an affiliate marketer, which means you’re making money by your visitors following a link to a site and purchasing a product where you earn a commission.  This is my favourite.

There are many people promoting products to help you learn internet marketing.  Make sure you do your research into who is successful and who teaches well.

Most successful marketers have products you can purchase to give you step-by-step guidance on how to start your online business from scratch.  Look for reviews online before purchasing.
